Luke List will be keen to win back to back Farmers Insurance Open titles and emulate Tiger Woods in the process.

Woods remains the last golfer to have successfully defended this tournament when he did so in 2008 and he has since won a record seven titles.

List did it the hard way when he won last year's Farmers Insuarance Open trophy - coming from behind with a final round six-under par 66.

The Seattle-born golfer then had to wait almost two hours for the leaders to finish and he tied Will Zalatoris and the two went to a playoff as the sun was setting.

In the playoff, List hit his third shot on the par-5 18th hole to a foot and won the tournament with a birdie and it was his first PGA Tour victory after 206 PGA Tour starts.

It also remains the Vanderbilt University student's only win on the PGA Tour, but he has also won two Korn Ferry Tour events namely Korn Ferry Challenge and South Georgia Classic.

List, who is currently ranked 92nd on the Official World Golf Rankings, finished 11th at this year's Sentry Tournament of Champions two weeks ago which was won by Jon Rahm.

“This is what it’s all about,” List said as he had his arms around his family after winning the 2022 Farmers Insurance Open.

“I’m so pumped that they were here to experience that with me. It means the world to me to have them.

"I always wanted that first win to happen with them here, with my wife. She’s amazing. To have them all here is going to be a special memory to have forever," he added.

“It’s a whirlwind. Still a lot of emotions going through my head, but to get that first win is definitely a relief. Just really happy with how positive I stayed.”
