Scottie Scheffler will be keen to win
The Open Championship for the first time and maintain his spot at the top of the Official World Golf Ranking (OWGR).
What to know about Scheffler
The American superstar is currently the world number one, first reaching the position in the OWGR in March 2022, and has held that ranking for a total of 41 weeks.
Scheffler is coming into 2023 The Open Championship having won one major championship, the 2022 Masters Tournament, and also clinched the 2023 Players Championship.

The reigning PGA Golfer of the Year was in action at the recent 2023 Genesis Scottish Open where he came close to winning his ninth professional tournament.
Scheffler finished third as Rory McIlroy won the Genesis Scottish Open after he birdied the last two holes in blustery conditions on Sunday to win by one stroke.
Why Scheffler is among the favourites
Scheffler has been very consistent having finished in the top five in his seven four PGA Tour events hence he is still placed at the top of the OWGR.
His best performance in The Open Championship came in 2021 as he finished eighth and there is no doubt that he has the ability to win this year's tournament.

“I've played solid golf this year. I'm very proud of that. I would say golf-wise I'm very proud of how I've been so consistent," Scheffler said on Golf Monthly over the weekend.
"It's definitely some of the most consistent golf that I've played. "I would obviously like to win more but golf is one of those games that you're never really satisfied and it's kind of like life, too - you're never really satisfied with the results of things and you always want more.
“I want to win every time I tee it up, and I think that's kind of how hard it is. You win once and you want to win twice. It's funny, as a kid, if you think you win once on the PGA Tour, you'll be satisfied. And you win once and it's pretty fun and you want to win again, and the cycle continues.”
