As the San Antonio Spurs and New York Knicks prepare for an exciting series of basketball in the NBA finals this week, it’s the Knicks who will head into their next challenge with a slight boost of confidence in their stride.

While the Knicks finished third in the Eastern Conference regular season with 53 wins, the Spurs ended their Western Conference campaign in second spot after accumulating 62 victories.

However, during their cross-conference assignments this season, the New York Knicks will face the San Antonio Spurs knowing that they already have one over their upcoming opponents.

In the first tie between the two sides, the Knicks claimed a 124-113 victory over the Spurs at the T-Mobile area on 17 December 2025.  While the Spurs led 59% of the match, the Knicks were superior in the rebound count as they noted 59 over 42 by the Spurs. The New York side also dominated during turnovers, three more than the San Antonio outfit.

For the top scorers in that game, Dylan Harper scored 21 for the Spurs while OG Anunoby recorded 28 for the Knicks.

The second game between the two sides took place at the Frost Bank Center on 31 December as the Spurs claimed a narrow 134-132 win over the Knicks in what was a high scoring encounter.

Victor Wembanyama, who suffered an injury scare in the game, completed the most rebounds for the Spurs (13), compared to just seven by Knicks star Karl-Anthony Towns. As for points scorers, Julian Champagnie scored a career-high 36 points for the Spurs while Jalen Brunson noted 29 points at the other end of the court.

Also, as one of the most telling metrics of the game, the Spurs recorded a 49% field goal tally, including eight more rebounds (48) than the New York Knicks.

In the last game between the two sides, the New York Knicks claimed a 114-89 win over the Spurs at Madison Square Garden on 1 March.

The Knicks were dominant throughout the fixture and had a 79% point lead across the four quarters. While Mikel Bridges and Victor Wembanyama scored 25 each, it was the Knicks who stole show by ending the Spurs’ 11-game win streak.
