World No. 15 Justin Thomas returns to defend his title at the RBC Heritage as he continues his comeback from injury.
The American carded a 17-under 267 to beat Andrew Novak in a playoff last year which was the last of his 16 PGA Tour career wins.
Thomas then underwent surgery on a persistent lower back problem in November and didn't compete in any events for a four-month period.
The 32-year-old was given the all-clear to return to action in February and made his first appearance of 2026 at the Arnold Palmer Invitational, but missed the cut.
Thomas looked in better nick at the Players Championship one week later, shooting a pair of 68s in the opening two rounds before going on to finish T8.
The two-time major winner didn't perform quite as well in his next two events, the Valspar Championship and the Masters, where he finished T30 and T41 respectively.
Thomas started with rounds of 72 and 74 at Augusta, and admitted he felt good before shooting 71 in the third round - his best score of the four days - followed by a 73.
"First two days in the books @themasters," the 2017 and 2022 PGA Championship winner wrote on Instagram. "Not the start we wanted, but weekend golf nonetheless!
"Feel very close to some great play... looking forward to enjoying the walk the next two days."
