De Bruyne became the first player in history to reach 20 assists in a single season in two of Europe's top five leagues.

The 29-year-old, who is widely considered as one of the best players in the world, also won his second Playmaker of the Season award for the most assists in the league.

Pep Guardiola, the City manager, revealed what he told De Bruyne ahead of their clash with Norwich as the attacking midfielder was looking to break Henry's record.

“Don’t focus too much (on the assist record). Kevin made one assist and could have broken it easily," Guardiola said.

"He will share the record with Henry. He played really good. Individual targets and focus to achieve something is good and for the benefit of the team. It’s not a problem. His is pace was different, we were aggressive. Everyone did well.

Meanwhile, Alexander-Arnold also enjoyed another season as Liverpool's chief orchestrator and he was key to the Reds clinching the Premier League title.
