Kubrat Pulev will finally get his chance to face Unified WBA (Super), IBF, WBO, and IBO world champion Anthony Joshua on December 12.

The two fighters were scheduled to fight at the Principality Stadium in Cardiff on 28 October 2017.

It was reported that 70,000 tickets had been sold, making it the fastest selling event and it also set the record of largest boxing attendance to be expected indoors.

The previous record was Muhammad Ali vs. Leon Spinks rematch which gathered 63,000 fans at the New Orleans Superdrome in 1978.

Joshua is set to defend his WBA (Super), IBF, and IBO heavyweight titles against Pulev.

However, Pulev suffered an injury which put the fight in jeopardy and it was officially cancelled in mid-October 2017 due to the Bulgarian boxer's shoulder injury.

Cameroonian boxer Carlos Takam, who was ranked number three by the IBF at the time stepped in to replace Pulev on 12 days notice.

Joshua won the fight as the referee stepped in and waved the fight off after the British superstar landed a flurry of punches on Takam.

In March 2020, it was officially announced Joshua and Pulev will fight at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in London, England on June 20.

However, the fight was later postponed to The SSE Arena London, England on December 12 due to the coronavirus pandemic.

Pulev's promoter, Bob Arum of Top Rank, is confident that the 39-year-old boxer's skill and power are a huge threat to Joshua.

“It’s one thing to box and run around the ring, making out you’re second coming of Muhammad Ali when you’re fighting a fat, obese Andy Ruiz,” Arum said.

“But it’s going to be a different story when you’re fighting a fit and ready Pulev, who’s in great shape and a good boxer.”
