Manchester City will welcome Manchester United in a Carabao Cup semi-final second-leg match at the Etihad Stadium on January 29.

The Citizens are the favourites to advance to the final as they emerged 3-1 winners in the first-leg clash away earlier this month.

They have been unstoppable in this year's tournament recording wins over lower division sides Preston North End and Oxford United and Premier League outfit Southampton.

City are hoping to become the first team to win the tournament three times in a row since Liverpool FC in 1983.

Bernardo Silva, the City attacker, reflected on their first-leg win over United ahead of the second game.

“It’s never easy to come here against one of the best sides in England and Europe and win 3-1 but we did it," Silva said.

“We were disappointed to lose against United (in the Premier League) last month because it is not normal for us to lose at home and I hope this makes up for it to our fans.”

Meanwhile, United are the underdogs once again, but they will be hoping to progress to the final despite having lost at home in the first-leg match.

The Red Devils had to overcome lower division sides Rochdale and Colchester United, and former English champions Chelsea in order to reach the semi-finals.

They are keen to go all the way and clinch their first Carabao Cup trophy since 2017.
