NBA Regular Season

Tip-off at 03:00 CAT

The Dallas Mavericks will chase a big win over the visiting Washington Wizards when the teams meet for an NBA Regular Season clash at the American Airlines Center in Dallas, Texas on the morning of Sunday 2 May 2021. Tip-off is at 03:00 CAT.

The Mavericks are competing for an automatic place in the playoffs, with back-to-back wins over the LA Lakers this past weekend boosting their confidence – and underlining the potency of Slovenian guard Luka Doncic.

“They were double-teaming me. In Europe I used to do this a lot,” the 22-year-old Doncic said. “I know how it goes. But here the floor is wider, so it's kind of easy.”

Dwight Powell has also dovetailed superbly with Doncic: “He's always been great against trapping defenses,” Dallas coach Rick Carlisle said. “I never mind seeing trapping defences on him because he's so great at delivering the ball.”

The Wizards, meanwhile, are scrapping for a place in the play-in tournament, with a recent run of form lifting their spirits after what has otherwise been a tough campaign for the Washington side. Bradley Beal’s scoring form has been outstanding, with coach Scott Brooks claiming: “He’s impossible to stop.”

Beal adds that his chemistry with Russell Westbrook has improved throughout the season.
"It's been fantastic since day one," Beal said. "We've both accepted each other. We both respect each other's game. And I feel like he just makes us a better team. He continues to uplift his teammates and he challenges himself."
