Norris eyes 2nd podium finish at Monaco Grand Prix

McLaren driver Lando Norris will be hoping to secure his second podium finish of the 2021 season at the Monaco Grand Prix on May 23.
 
The Belgian-British star finished third at the 2021 Emilia Romagna Grand Prix and it remains his best performance in the current campaign. 
 
Norris secured an eighth spot finish in the most recent race which was the Spanish Grand Prix which took place on May 9.

The Spanish Grand Prix which was the fourth round in the current season was won by Mercedes driver Lewis Hamilton. 
 
Red Bull Racing-Honda driver Max Verstappen and Valtteri Bottas of Mercedes finished second and third respectively in Spain. 
 
Norris is now placed fourth on the World Drivers' Championship standings and he will be hoping to move back into the top three with a win in Monaco. 
 
Hamilton is sitting at the top of the standings and he is followed by Verstappen and Bottas respectively.

Norris signed a new deal on Wednesday which keeps him at McLaren for years to come and team principal Andreas Seidl described the decision as "very straightforward".
 
"Lando has impressed us since his rookie year with his performances, and his evolution as a driver since then has been clear to see," Seidl said.
 
"He’s an integral part of our performance recovery plan and his record so far, securing two podiums with the team over the past year, has shown he’s a formidable competitor on track.
 
"In Lando and Daniel [Ricciardo] we have a hugely talented and exciting driver line-up, and this announcement is a strong signal of commitment to the next chapter for McLaren from 2022 onwards."
 
Mercedes are placed at the top of the Constructors' Championship standings and they were followed by Red Bull Racing-Honda and McLaren-Mercedes respectively.
