Jon Rahm will be looking to emulate Sergio Garcia at the 2021 Sentry Tournament of Champions at the Plantation Course in Kapalua, Hawaii.

Garcia remains the only Spanish player to win this competition having done so in 2002 when the tournament was still known as the Mercedes Championship.

Rahm came close to winning the Tournament of Champions in 2018, but he finished second behind American superstar Dustin Johnson.

The Spaniard is a former world number one, having first achieved that rank in July 2020 and currently sits in second spot on the Official World Golf Ranking. Nicknamed Rahmbo, Rahm was also the number one golfer in the World Amateur Golf Ranking for a record 60 weeks.

Rahmbo boasts five PGA Tour wins since he became a professional golfer in 2016 after lifting the ASU Thunderbird Invitational trophy.

The 26-year-old has clinched the Farmers Insurance Open, CareerBuilder Challenge, Memorial Tournament, BMW Championship as well as Zurich Classic of New Orleans.

The year 2020 was a good year for Rahm as the European player won the Memorial Tournament and BMW Championship.

Rahm shot a 64 in the final round and defeated current world number one Johnson in a playoff by making a 66-foot putt on the first playoff hole at the BMW Championship.

In the third round, Rahmbo received a one-stroke penalty for picking up his golf ball on the 5th green before marking it.

Rahm became the second Spaniard after Seve Ballesteros to be number one in the world after winning the Memorial Tournament in July 2020 and he says it is a lifelong dream.

“How many people get to achieve a lifelong dream in their mid-20s? It’s incredible," Rahm said at the time.

"To be a Spaniard, the second Spaniard to ever do it, given there’s not many Europeans that have gotten to this spot, it’s a pretty unique feeling, so I’m going to enjoy it for a while.”
