2025-26 Spanish La Liga
Matchday 31
Celta Vigo v Real Oviedo
Estadio Balaidos
Vigo, Spain
Sunday, 12 April 2026
Kick-off is at 17h30
Celta Vigo will be targeting nothing less than all three points when they take on La Liga basement dwellers Real Oviedo at Balaidos on Sunday, April 12.
The Sky Blues got their European challenge back on track with a 3-2 victory over Valencia on April 5, having failed to win their previous four games.
Claudio Giraldez's side had seen Real Betis drop two points the day before after being held to a 0-0 draw by Espanyol and they took full advantage at the Mestalla.
Celta are now just one point behind Betis in sixth place and they have a three-point cushion to Real Sociedad (7th) and Getafe (8th) in the race for Europa League football.

Los Azules seem destined to make a swift return to the Segunda Division as they are rooted to the foot of the table after winning just five of their opening 30 matches.
Their latest win came on matchday 30 when Guillermo Almada's side edged Sevilla 1-0 on April 5, but it left them still seven points adrift of safety with eight games remaining in the season.
Oviedo did manage to pick up a point in the reverse fixture at Estadio Carlos Tartiere on December 20 - a goalless draw - although it definitely won't be enough on this occasion if they harbour any hopes of survival.

Giraldez is confident that the club will qualify for the UEFA Conference League at least, having stated earlier in the campaign that 43 points would be enough to achieve that goal.
"I'm not going to change my tune. I try to be a man of my word," he said. "Yes, I think we've virtually achieved our first objective, and as you rightly say, now we can dream of being able to be European competitions for another year.
"It would be wonderful to experience another year like this. And I want to congratulate the players for securing our main objective as a club, and I think it's an important day to achieve it with eight games to spare."
