World No. 10 Chris Gotterup will be looking to build on his fine start to the year when he tees it up at the Houston Open from 26-29 March.

The American won the season-opening Sony Open in Hawaii by two strokes over Ryan Gerard before beating Hideki Matsuyama in a sudden-death playoff at the Phoenix Open three weeks later.

Gotterup rose to a career-high fifth in the Official World Golf Ranking with his fourth PGA Tour victory, but has since dropped five places after failing to finish inside the top 10 in his next four events.

The 26-year-old even missed the cut at the Genesis Invitational and placed T56 most recently at the Players Championship after shooting a disappointing 78 in the final round.

Gotterup, who is set to make his third appearance at Memorial Park, revealed in an interview on the 'Warming Up' show on golf.com that he's more concerned with how his swing feels than what it looks like.

"I heavily rely on feel and like, I'm not very technical," he said. "I'm not worried about what my swing looks like.

"I just want to know: Does the club feel good in my hands? And can I make the ball go left to right? Can I go right to left? Can I hit my numbers?

"Because at the end of the day, once you get out on the course, you're just trying to put the ball where you want it to go, and I don't need to be thinking about where my club head is in my swing on hole 7 in a tournament.

"So for me, it's about what I can do to create consistency and feel good about it. Am I getting the results with the numbers that I want? Especially pre-tournament and during a tournament, that's all that matters for me."
