As one of the most keenly anticipated fixtures in La Liga this weekend, Real Betis and Sevilla will now do battle in the Seville Derby at Estadio de La Cartuja on Sunday.
Real Betis currently occupy fifth position on the La Liga table with 42 points from 25 games played so far. With a place in the UEFA Champions League up for grabs, Betis will head into their next encounter six points from fourth spot.
Sevilla on the other hand, are 11th on the log after accumulating 29 points from 25 matches in their bid to stay clear of the drop zone. Despite a major position distance from the bottom three, Sevilla are only five points from safety ahead of matchday 26.
Betis come into the derby off a solid spell and recently recorded a 1-1 draw with Rayo Vallecano on home soil, adding to their four-match unbeaten run. Sevilla’s last outing saw them bag maximum points in a 1-0 victory over Getafe at the Coliseum Stadium on Sunday.
With regards to the form sheets of both sides, Betis saw out three wins, one draw and one defeat in their last five, while Sevilla jotted down two victories, two stalemates and one defeat in the previous handful of LaLiga fixtures.

Sevilla coach Matias Almeyda, is currently serving a lengthy seven-match ban after he confronted an official in ecstatic fashion during his side’s 1-1 draw with Alavez last week.
While he will be unable to shake hands with Betis coach Manuel Pellergrini this weekend, Almeyda was full of praise for the Chilean, who came in support of Almeyda following the controversial incident.
“That’s football, the football of men, of respect, of honor,” the Sevilla coach expressed.
“We’re talking about a gentleman of football. I said it before another match: admiration, respect, and gratitude.
“I wasn’t the only one who saw the injustice.”
