Kevin Yu is looking forward to returning to Jackson to defend his title at the
Sanderson Farms Championship on Thursday, October 2.
The Taiwanese won his maiden PGA Tour event in 2024 when he carded a 23-under 265 to beat Beau Hossler in a playoff at the Country Club of Jackson.
Yu, who is ranked No. 83 in the world, heads to the second tournament of the FedEx Cup Fall having not played since the FedEx St Jude Championship in the second week of August.
The 27-year-old has achieved two top 10s this season, with his best result coming at the Canadian Open when he finished one stroke behind winner Ryan Fox in third place.
Yu admits his victory 12 months ago gave him the confidence to show he could compete on the PGA Tour, but he knows there is still plenty to improve upon on his game.
"It definitely brought the good memories from last year to me," he told the Clarion Ledger. "The course is still looking great, and I can't wait to be back here to defend my title.
"It definitely gave me more confidence because I [was] still kind of a rookie last year to win on the tour. So, it [gave] me the confidence that I can compete with those guys.
"I want to still be a better person, be a better golfer. But I would say I definitely, beginning of the year, I set a pretty high standard for myself, almost being too harsh on myself, so I kind of learned lessons.
"Coming back here, it's great, but I also want to do good, but also just one step at a time."
