Round 4

Honda rider Marc Marquez will not be competing at the 2020 Austrian Grand Prix which will take place on August 16.

The Spanish superstar, who is the reigning MotoGP world champion, will miss the race due to an injury which he sustained at the Spanish Grand Prix last month.

Marquez finished second in last year's Austrian Grand Prix which was won by his rival, Andrea Dovizioso of Ducati.

Yamaha rider Fabio Quartararo, who has had a great start to the 2020 season, secured a third-place finish at the 2019 Austrian Grand Prix.

Quartararo is placed at the top of the riders' standings having collected 59 points from his first three races of the year.

Yamaha duo of Maverick Vinales and Franco Morbidelli are placed second, and third respectively on the standings.

Despite being one of the most successful motorcycle racers of all time, Marquez has had a poor start to the 2020 season as he is placed 21st on the standings without a single point.

Honda team principal Alberto Puig has announced that Stefan Bradl will replace Marquez ahead of the weekend's Austrian Grand Prix.

"We will have Bradl again this week in Austria on a different track such as the Red Bull Ring. We hope Alex [Marquez] will continue his growth, developing as a rider and taking steps forward," Puig said.

"He has to understand the bike better and especially the tyres; he continues finding some problems to adapt to the new compounds, which makes things more difficult afterwards.

"With Stefan, we will assess in the coming days if we continue to test some new parts or what is the strategy that we prepare for this weekend from the point of view technical."

Yahama are sitting at the top of Manufacturers' Championship standings - 26 points above their closest rivals, KTM.

KTM and Ducati are placed second and third respectively on the standings.
