The Magpies go into this weekend's round of action in 17th spot on the league standings and just two points above the relegation zone, following a 3-0 loss at Brighton & Hove Albion before the international break.

Newcastle are winless in six matches as pressure continues to mount on manager Steve Bruce who will be desperate for his team to get all three points at St James's Park.

"We have to accept that we were nowhere near good enough [against Brighton]," said Bruce. "We have two weeks now to see if we can get one or two players back. There’s a lot of disappointment.

"Over the last few weeks I’ve seen a degree of togetherness and fight, but we’ve got to be better than we were tonight to give ourselves a chance."

Spurs have reignited their hopes of a top four finish with four wins in their last five matches, includng a 2-0 victory at Aston Villa last time out.

Newcastle United claimed a point away to Spurs in the reverse fixture earlier this season. Lucas Moura opened the scoring in a 1-1 draw before a late penalty from Callum Wilson handed the Magpies a share of the spoils.
