Joao Pedro, the Cagliari midfielder, says the team needs to improve after they ended the year with a 3-2 defeat to AS Roma.

"We are there, I'm not worried because we are proving to have important values," Pedro said.

"But there is no doubt that we have to be tougher and get back to winning soon, the three points are missing from seven games and we cannot be satisfied.

"We have lost too many opportunities. Now let's think about resting a few days and having a peaceful Christmas, even if after a defeat it won't be easy."

Elsewhere, seven-time Serie A champions Bologna FC are set to welcome Udinese Calcio to the Stadio Renato Dall'Ara.

The two teams will lock horns for the 42nd time across all competitions since 1996. Udinese have dominated this fixture having recorded 19 wins compared to Bologna's 12 victories, while 10 games ended in a draw.

Their last meeting in the league was on 22 February 2020 and the match ended in a 1-1 draw at the Stadio Renato Dall'Ara.
