Aston Villa and Liverpool will renew their rivalry with a Premier League clash at Villa Park on Saturday 2 November 2019, kick-off at 17:00 CAT. The match is one of 10 across England’s top flight this coming weekend.

Villa were no match for Manchester City in their clash at the Etihad last weekend, succumbing 3-0 at the hands of the league champions.

Manager Dean Smith is hoping his team are on a quick learning curve ahead of facing another of the Premier League’s heavyweights: "We can take great lessons from this, the way Manchester City play, the way they're coached. They use the space behind you really well and make some great forward runs and if they don't get the ball then they create space in front of you.”

Liverpool kept up their stranglehold at the top of the log with a 2-1 home win over Tottenham Hotspur this past weekend, but manager Jurgen Klopp insists his side need to remain relentless.

"We need to play really, really well. We're now on 28 points, blah blah, but you need to think what would have happened if we'd have lost today, how the questions would have been,” explained the German tactician.

"We know exactly what we have to do. We have to be focused and concentrate on specific games. A lot to come, but so far, so good."

Aston Villa forward Wesley

In head-to-head stats, Villa and Liverpool have met in 169 matches. The Reds have claimed 83 wins compared to 50 for the Birmingham team, while 36 games have been drawn.

The teams last met in the Premier League in the 2015/16 season, in which Liverpool completed an emphatic league ‘double’: the Reds won 3-2 at home in September 2015, while the return game at Villa Park in February 2016 ended 6-0 in favour of ‘Pool and helped send Villa to relegation.
