Max Verstappen will be eager to extend his record as the most successful driver in the Miami Grand Prix by winning the race for the third time.

The Red Bull driver finished eighth in the Japanese Grand Prix on 29 March, the most recent round of the 2026 Formula One World Championship.
Verstappen started 11th after a difficult qualifying and gained a few positions but struggled with overtaking and overall pace, scoring just four points at Suzuka.
Formula One ambitions
The four-time Formula One World Champion sits ninth in the World Drivers’ Championship standings with 12 points after three races.
Red Bull are currently fourth in the Constructors’ Championship and well behind the leading Mercedes, Ferrari, and McLaren teams, making this upgrade weekend crucial for Verstappen’s title hopes.
Why Verstappen could shine in Miami
Verstappen has a strong record in Miami as he is the only driver to have won the Grand Prix more than once, clinching it in 2022 and 2023.
Red Bull are bringing a substantial “recovery package” including aerodynamic and floor upgrades, which the team hopes will stabilise the car and allow him to fight closer to the front on a track that rewards strong racecraft.
What did he say?
“We’ve got some upgrades coming in Miami, which we hope will help. It’s been a tough start but we’re working hard to turn it around. Miami is always a special place and I’m looking forward to the challenge," Verstappen said ahead of the 2026 Miami GP.
After Japan he said, “Not really where we want to fight. We have a month to analyse everything so we can be more competitive and sort more things with the car.
“Red Bull are bringing a substantial recovery package... Miami is expected to witness the introduction of components that look identical but shed crucial mass.”
