2025-26 Spanish La Liga
Matchday 34
Celta Vigo v Elche
Estadio Balaidos
Vigo, Spain
Sunday, 3 May 2026
Kick-off is at 13h00
Celta Vigo will be looking to put a disappointing month behind them when they host a resurgent Elche at Balaidos on Sunday, May 3 in the early kick-off.
The Sky Blues were beaten 2-1 by Villarreal on April 26 which was their third defeat on the spin and further dented their European challenge after picking up just three points out of a possible 12 that month.
Claudio Giraldez's side saw Getafe also lose on matchday 32 and they remain behind the sixth-placed Azulones in head-to-head points in the race for UEFA Conference League football.

No less than nine teams are in the mix for a top-six finish as there is just a six-point difference between Getafe and Girona down in 15th spot.
Los Franjiverdes have also entered the frame after winning four of their last five matches to escape the relegation zone.
Eder Sarabia's side were in the bottom three a month ago, but they've turned their fortunes around and 2-1 victory over rock-bottom Real Oviedo on April 26 lifted them up to 14th position, level with Girona on 38 points.

Giraldez conceded that their direct approach didn't work in their last two outings against Barcelona and Villarreal as those two teams had to quality to hurt them for any mistakes that were made.
"We started the game against Barca with a direct style of play that was interrupted and ended a goalscoring opportunity, and we started with a direct style of play [against Villarreal] that we executed poorly," he said.
"Obviously, we do it like the vast majority of teams in modern football, starting in the opponent's half. Well, it hasn't gone the other way in these matches as I think it's going badly in all the small situations.
"We have to learn and improve because it's very difficult to start against the first and third [teams] in the standings with the talent they have, and it makes you doubt yourself for 10-15 minutes with the ball.
"I think we have been passing the ball around for 10-15 minutes with many technical errors I think caused by starting the match in that way."
