On the back of difficult defeats in La Liga last time out, Sevilla and Espanyol will eye a winning restart in matchday four when they do battle at the RCDE Stadium on Sunday.
Sevilla kicked off their campaign with consecutive wins over Rayo Vallecano and Athletic Bilbao respectively before stumbling in matchday three.
Sitting in sixth position on six points, Sevilla suffered a 3-1 home loss against Atletico Madrid this past weekend as their positive form came to a grinding halt.
Espanyol will enter their next game sitting in 11th position as they were unable to build on their opening day 3-0 win over Levante last month.
Since their matchday one obligation, Espanyol noted losses against Real Madrid and Real Sociedad respectively and will now aim to get back to winning aways on their own patch.
Sevilla, who felt that they had a penalty shout in their loss to Atleti, lauded an improved second-half performance in the tie.
“Sevilla continued to push until the final whistle and even appealed for a penalty after Kike Salas went down in the box, but neither Alberola Rojas nor VAR awarded a spot-kick,” the club noted on their website.
“Despite a much-improved second-half performance, Sevilla were unable to add to their points tally.”
