The 2026 US Open will have plenty of established stars chasing Grand Slam glory, but the tournament’s men’s singles draw will also provide a platform for a fascinating collection of emerging American talent, international prospects and one of tennis’s most recognisable veterans.
Leading the wild-card contingent is Gael Monfils, with the 39-year-old Frenchman bringing a wealth of experience and showmanship to Flushing Meadows. A former world No. 6 and US Open semifinalist, Monfils remains a hugely popular figure and will be hoping his latest appearance can produce another memorable run.
The American challenge is led by Michael Zheng, the 22-year-old two-time reigning NCAA men’s singles champion. His collegiate success has marked him as one of the country’s most intriguing young players, and the US Open offers an opportunity to translate that dominance onto the biggest stage.
J.J. Wolf, meanwhile, earned his place as the winner of the US Open Wild Card Challenge. The 27-year-old has already experienced the pressure of competing at Grand Slam level and will be looking to make the most of another opportunity on home soil.
Sebastian Gorzny, winner of the American Collegiate Player Wild Card Playoff, adds another promising name to the field, while 18-year-old Jack Kennedy enters as the USTA Boys’ 18s National Champion. For Kennedy, the jump from junior success to the senior Grand Slam stage represents a major milestone.
The reshuffled wild-card picture has also opened the door for Darwin Blanch. The 18-year-old, last year’s USTA Boys’ 18s National Champion, moved into the field after Martin Damm was promoted into the main draw following Alejandro Davidovich Fokina’s withdrawal. Dane Sweeny received his place through a reciprocal agreement with Tennis Australia, while Patrick Kypson, currently ranked No. 115 in the world, was awarded the final wild card.
Together, the group gives the 2026 US Open an intriguing blend of experience, youth and opportunity. For the rising Americans in particular, there is the chance to turn a wild card into a breakthrough moment on one of tennis’s biggest stages.
