Nigeria coach Eric Chelle has urged his side to remain consistent at the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations as the Super Eagles face a stern test in the form of Tunisia in their second Group C fixture on Saturday.
The Super Eagles, who bagged the AFCON trophy on three occasions, started their campaign with a 2-1 win against Tanzania at the Fez Stadium on Tuesday night.
Led by goals from Sami Ajayi and Ademola Lookman, Nigeria dominated for large parts of the encounter and currently sit in second place behind their upcoming opponents.
Tunisia on the other hand, claimed a 3-1 victory against Uganda during matchday one, courtesy of efforts by Ellyes Skhiri and Elias Achouri (2) at Stade Olympique Annexe Complexe Sportif Prince Abdellah on Tuesday.
The Eagles of Carthage have made 22 appearances at the Africa Cup of Nations, while they lifted the trophy in 2004 on home soil.
Reflecting on Nigeria’s win over Tanzania, Eric Chelle mentioned that he will make adjustments to his team with the view of creating cohesion and consistency going forward.
“The opening win is encouraging, but at this level, small details decide games,” Chelle said.
“We played well, yet we must reduce our mistakes, especially when facing stronger opponents.
“AFCON is about consistency. We will carefully analyse this game and make the necessary adjustments ahead of our next match.”
