2025 Africa Cup of Nations

Group C

Uganda v Nigeria

Fez Stadium

Fez, Morocco

Tuesday, 30 December 2025

Kick-off is at 17h00

Uganda will face off with an in-form Nigeria side in their third 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) Group C match at the Fez Stadium on 30 December.

Current Form

The Cranes drew 1-1 with Tanzania in their second Group C match on 27 December and they are winless in their last three matches across all competitions.

The draw against Tanzania ended Uganda's losing streak as they had lost back-to-back matches against Tunisia in a Group C fixture and Morocco in an international friendly game.

Meanwhile, Nigeria claimed a 3-2 win over Tunisia in their second Group C match on 27 December and they are unbeaten in their last two matches across all competitions.

The Super Eagles' unbeaten run consists of two back-to-back victories over Tanzania and Tunisia in Group C fixtures.

Team News

Uganda, who have no suspension and injury worries, have to secure a win over Nigeria in order to stand a good chance of progressing to the Round of 16.

Nigeria, on the other hand, also do not have any suspension and injury concerns, having already booked their place in the knockout phase with a game to spare.

Quotes

“I spoke to the players and informed them that we need to keep the belief,” Put said.

“You have to play until the last game. Yes, we are disappointed, but we need to reset the mindset and prepare for the match against Nigeria, which we know will not be easy.”

“We improved on our first game (vs Tanzania), which we won. We did some mistakes, like the first game," Chelle said.

"I hope the third game will be better than the second game. We will have to improve with every game.”

Head-to-Head

The two teams have met eight times across all competitions since their maiden meeting in March 1978.

Uganda have registered four victories compared to Nigeria's two wins, while two games ended in a draw.

Their last meeting ended in a 0-0 draw in an international friendly match played at the Stephen Keshi Stadium in Asaba, Nigeria, in November 2018.

Therefore, the Cranes are undefeated in their last three matches against the Super Eagles, having recorded two wins and one draw.
