Max Verstappen will be keen to equal Ferrari driver Lewis Hamilton's record of six
Abu Dhabi Grand Prix wins and also retain the Formula One world championship.

The Red Bull Racing driver secured a podium spot at the Qatar Grand Prix on 30 November, the most recent race on the 2025 Formula One World Championship calendar.
Verstappen started in third grid and he went on to win the race, but he finished fourth in the sprint event, accumulating 30 points in Qatar. He has also now achieved 126 podiums and 70 wins in Formula One
Formula One title ambitions
The 28-year-old is now placed second in the World Drivers' Championship standings, having accumulated 396 points with one race left.
Verstappen is four points ahead of third-placed Oscar Piastri of McLaren, but he is 12 points behind leader Lando Norris of McLaren.
Why Verstappen could win the 2025 Abu Dhabi Grand Prix
The Hasselt, Limburg-born racing driver has enjoyed a lot of success in the UAE over the years, having been crowned Abu Dhabi Grand Prix champion in 2020, 2021, 2022 and 2023.
Verstappen is in the best form of his life, having won the last two races and he will retain the Formula One world championship if he wins the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix, and Norris underperforms.
What did he say?
“It is all possible now," Verstappen, who is a four-time Formula One world champion, said ahead of the 2025 Abu Dhabi Grand Prix.
"On pure pace, we will not win in Abu Dhabi, so we will need something like today or a bit more luck. We have to be realistic about that, but we will see, it keeps things exciting. I am not worrying too much about it.”
