With AS Roma battling to yield a consistent run of results in Serie A this season, I Giallorossi will now zoom in on Genoa as the two sides prepare to collide at Stadio Olimpico next Monday.
Roma have endured a sticky spell during the last couple of weeks and will go into their next league obligation on the back of a 2-1 defeat against Juventus on Saturday.
As it stands, Roma are fourth on the log, just three points behind table toppers Inter Milan. While Roma accumulated three losses and two wins in their previous five, Genoa jotted down two wins, two defeats and the single draw in their last handful of league matches.
Genoa suffered consecutive losses against Inter and Atalanta last time out and currently have 14 points after 16 ties in 17th position.
In summary of Roma’s loss to Juventus, Gian Piero Gasperini did not shy away from his thoughts on striker Evan Ferguson and singled out the Irishman by boldly claiming that he is not convinced by his performances this season.
“Ferguson isn’t convincing me. Even in the second half, for a long time,” the Roma mentor said.
“He hasn’t quite got into the swing of things yet, along with others. But we have a very solid team.
“Dybala and Soule were served very well and have superior technical quality. I would make the same decisions again.”
“Whoever started the game is who I think is doing best. It’s clear that Roma is currently trying to improve and strengthen themselves in that area of the pitch.”
