As one of the favourites to lift the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations trophy, Nigeria will now turn their attention to Algeria in the quarter-finals, with the Fennec Foxes on course to win their third tournament crown.
Nigeria booked their ticket into the competition’s final eight via an emphatic 4-0 win against Mozambique in the Round of 16 at the Fez Stadium on Monday night.
The Super Eagles were supplemented by the rising form of Victor Osimhen, who scored a brace against Os Mambas, while Ademola Lookman and Akor Adams got their names on the scoresheet as well.
While Nigeria were rampant in front of goal, Algeria battled toward a 1-0 win against DR Congo on Tuesday evening. A lone 119th minute effort by Adil Boulbina separated the two sides at the Moulay Hassan Stadium in Rabat.

Speaking after Nigeria’s 4-0 win over Mozambique, Eric Chelle touched on the tension that arose between Osimhen and Lookman, after the latter exchanged words with Lookman before being substituted.
As the news made headlines in AFCON media, Chelle expressed that the matter will be dealt with internally and that the result is foremost in their minds.
"What happened on the pitch will stay in the group, I don't need to tell you what happened or what will happen. We will talk and see what happens,” Chelle said.
"No, I've not seen him, but I don't think that's really important, the team won 4-0, and Vic is our number one guy, everyone knows this, and all of the rest of the stuff is not really important."
