McLaren driver Lando Norris believes they will be on the top step of the podium "soon" with some more effort as Formula One heads to the Red Bull Ring for the Austrian Grand Prix on Sunday, June 28.
The reigning world champion has been plagued by reliability issues this season after failing to start the Chinese Grand Prix, while retiring in Canada and Monaco due to gearbox and battery issues respectively.
Norris returned to the podium for only the second time in 2026 with his P3 at the Barcelona Grand Prix, having secured a P2 in Miami as team-mate Oscar Piastri completed the rostrum with a P3.

The Englishman is well off the pace in the title race, trailing Drivers' Championship leader Kimi Antonelli by 83 points in fifth place, with McLaren a distant third in the Constructors' Championship.
But Norris is convinced that the 2025 Constructors' champions will challenge their rivals for wins this year if they continue to make improvements to the MCL40.

"It was a tough race, I did my best to keep up with these guys (Lewis Hamilton and George Russell) but [they were] too quick," Norris said.
"We stayed there, we gave ourselves a chance if anything happened, and we obviously got a bit lucky with Antonelli going out. But otherwise very happy, very happy for the team, very happy to be back on the podium, so a good day for us.
"We're doing a good job as a team, I think we're making good progress but these guys are just doing a better job, so we have to give credits to them and admit that to ourselves, that we've got to keep working hard, we've got to keep putting in the effort.
"But the whole team are doing it so I'm very happy with them, but we've just got to keep our heads down and keep working, and we'll be there soon."
