2025-26 Spanish La Liga
Matchday 13
Getafe v Atletico Madrid
Estadio Coliseum
Getafe, Spain
Sunday, 23 November 2025
Kick-off is at 18h30
Atletico Madrid will be keen to keep the momentum going when they make the short trip to the Coliseum for a local derby with Getafe on Sunday, November 23.
Los Colchoneros have been building up a head of steam since making a slow start to the La Liga season which saw them pick up just two points from their opening three games.
Diego Simeone's side have won six of their last seven matches and are unbeaten in 11 after losing 2-1 to Espanyol on the opening weekend.
Atleti find themselves just six points off the league summit and trail second-placed Barcelona by three in fourth position after beating Levante 3-1 on November 8.
The Azulones have made a promising start to the 2025-26 campaign, winning their first two games and claiming back-to-back victories once more at the end of October.
However, Jose Bordalas' side endured a bit of a slump between September 21 and October 19, collecting just two points out of a possible 15 before securing a morale-boosting 1-0 win against Athletic Bilbao.
Getafe missed out on the chance to climb into the European places after slipping to a 1-0 defeat against Real Mallorca on November 9 which left them in eighth position.
Simeone was delighted to head into the international break with a run of three consecutive victories, but he felt Atletico could have beaten the Frogs by a greater margin.
"I'm happy with the work the lads are doing. Today was another complete, well-played match, with the aim of controlling the game, which we did throughout," the Argentine said.
"They hurt us from set-pieces, which they handle so well, and they scored one goal and could have scored another. But we played mostly in their half of the pitch, we kept going.
"We didn't get frustrated when they were defending well, and the lads who came on in the second half found themselves in a good game and helped us to win it. We could have scored more goals and I'm pleased with the ambition that the team showed."
