McLaren's Oscar Piastri will be targeting his first podium in three races as he closes in on a maiden world championship title at the
United States Grand Prix on Sunday, October 19.
The Australian is locked in a fierce battle with team-mate Lando Norris for individual honours this season after the duo helped McLaren win the World Constructors' Championship at the Singapore Grand Prix.
Piastri has led the charge since claiming a disappointing P9 on home soil in the season-opening Australian Grand Prix, winning seven of the next 17 races.
But the last of his 14 podiums came at the Italian Grand Prix (P3) and the 24-year-old crashed out of the Azerbaijan Grand Prix on the first lap following a mistake on the grid, having triggered the car's anti-stall after jumping the start.
Piastri then had to settle for P4 at the Singapore Grand Prix after a controversial incident on the first lap which saw Norris make contact with Max Verstappen's Red Bull and sent him into his team-mate, who lost track position.
The championship leader voiced his frustration over the team radio after being informed by McLaren engineer Tom Stallard that the stewards would be taking no action as Norris went on to finish third, closing the gap to 22 points in the drivers' standings.
"That is not fair. I am sorry. That's not fair. If he has to avoid another car by crashing into his team-mate then that is a pretty s**t job of avoiding it," Piastri said.
