George Russell will be keen to close the gap on the top three in the World Drivers' Championship standings by winning the
Azerbaijan Grand Prix.

The Mercedes driver missed out on a podium spot at the Italian Grand Prix on 7 September, the most recent race on the 2025 Formula One World Championship calendar.
Russell started on the fifth grid and went on to finish fifth, failing to achieve his 22nd podium, but he accumulated 10 points from the event held in Monza.
Formula One title ambitions
The British racing driver remains fourth in the World Drivers' Championship standings, having accumulated 194 points.
Russell is now 36 points behind third-placed Verstappen of Red Bull Racing and 130 points behind leader Oscar Piastri of McLaren.
Why Russell could win the 2025 Azerbaijan Grand Prix
The 2007 Super 1 National Kart Championship winner tends to do well in the Azerbaijan Grand Prix, having secured podium spots in 2022 and 2024, finishing third on both occasions.
Russell, who won this season's Canadian Grand Prix, will be going for the jugular in Baku and finally win the Azerbaijan Grand Prix this weekend.
What did he say?
“It was stimulating to be in contact with Charles (Leclerc)," declared Russell after finishing fifth at the 2025 Italian Grand Prix.
"They were so fast on the straights. If I had managed my tires more, maybe it would have been a little different, but it wasn't. The race was pretty open, quite scrappy for a few laps.
"But fifth place is where the car deserves to finish today."
