Red Bull driver Alexander Albon will be targeting his maiden win of the 2020 season at the Italian Grand Prix title on September 06.

The 24-year-old will be making his second appearance at the Autodromo Nazionale di Monza having finished sixth last year.

Albon, who was born in England to a British father and a Thai mother, has caught the eye in his third season in Formula One and he will be eyeing a win in Monza.

Ferrari driver Charles Leclerc won last year's race and he was followed by the Mercedes duo of Valtteri Bottas and Lewis Hamilton, who finished second, and third respectively.

Albon went on to finish the 2019 campaign on the eighth spot on the Drivers' World Championship standings, but he has been in impressive form in the 2020 season.

The London-born driver is currently placed fourth on the standings 59 points - third behind third-placed Bottas, but he is above the Ferrari duo of Charles Leclerc and Sebastian Vettel.

Mercedes driver Hamilton is sitting at the top of the standings and he is followed by Max Verstappen of Red Bull and Bottas.

Albon finished sixth at the recent, Belgian Grand Prix and Hamilton suggested that Verstappen needs a stronger teammate.

However, Red Bull team principal Christian Horner defended Albon’s performances since he joined the team last year as a replacement for Pierre Gasly.

“Everybody’s obviously got an opinion on this topic but they don’t have really the facts,” said Horner on Auto Week

“Alex is doing a good job in what’s been a difficult car this year. It’s a different car to last year, I’d say the car’s harder to drive than 12 months ago.

Mercedes are placed at the top of Constructors' standings followed by second-placed Red Bull and third-placed McLaren-Renault.
