2022/23 Italian Serie A

Matchday 29

US Lecce v AC Milan

Stadio Comunale Via del Mare
Lecce, Italy
Friday, 7 April 2023
Kick-off is at 18h00

US Lecce will battle it out with SSC Napoli in an Italian Serie A match at the Stadio Comunale Via del Mare on April 7.

Current Form

The Wolves suffered a 1-0 loss to ACF Fiorentina away on March 19 to make it four matches without a win in the league.

Lecce are also winless in their last five matches at home having recorded two draws and three defeats at the Stadio Comunale Via del Mare.

While Napoli succumbed to a 4-0 defeat to AC Milan at home on April 2 as their two-match unbeaten run in the Serie A came to an end.

However, the Little Donkeys are undefeated in their last six matches on the road having registered six consecutive wins as the visitors.

What Is At Stake

Lecce are placed 16th on the league standings and they are determined to avoid relegation from the Italian top-flight.

A win over Inter would see the Wolves ease their relegation fears as we approach the business end of the season.

They will be up against a Napoli side which is placed at the top of the standings and a win over Lecce would boost their ambitions of winning the league title.

Team News

Kastriot Dermaku is the only Lecce player who is currently injured, while Samuel Umtiti and Youssef Maleh are suspended.

Looking at the Napoli camp, Victor Osimhen and Bartosz Bereszynski are on the club's injury list and they have no suspension concerns.

Key Players

Gabriel Strefezza , who has established himself as Lecce's first-choice attacker having scored seven goals and provided one assist in the Serie A this term, will pose a serious threat to Napoli.

On the other hand, Khvicha Kvaratskhelia is the Napoli player to watch out for as the Georgian winger has netted 12 goals this term.

Quotes

“Milan put in a great performance. They started strong, they took advantage of all the situations we gave them," Napoli manager Luciano Spalletti said after the defeat to Milan.

"They were very good at using the spaces we gave them. We performed below our level, the great willingness of the boys in some cases served to stretch even further to go and resume the game.

"We have left spaces that they have exploited well.”

Head-to-Head

Lecce managed told hold Napoli to a 1-1 draw in their last meeting in the league which was on 31 August 2022 at the Stadio Diego Armando Maradona.

As a result, the Wolves are undefeated in their last two league matches against the Little Donkeys having recorded one win and one draw during the unbeaten run.
