2025-26 Italian Serie A

Matchday 2

Pisa v Roma

Arena Garibaldi

Pisa, Italy

Saturday, 30 August 2025

Kick-off is at 20h45

Roma will travel to the Arena Garibaldi for the first time in 34 years when they face Serie A newcomers Pisa on Saturday, August 30.

The Giallorossi ran out narrow 1-0 victors on their last trip to Pisa on 26 May 1991, having suffered a surprise 2-0 defeat in the reverse fixture four months earlier.

The Tuscany outfit have been in the lower echelons of Italian football since then, but they finally gained promotion to Serie A as runners-up to Sassuolo in Serie B last term.

Alberto Gilardino's side made a positive start to life back in the top flight after they held Atalanta to a 1-1 draw on August 24.

The Rome giants bid farewell to Claudio Ranieri at the end of the 2024-25 campaign and brought in former Atalanta head coach Gian Piero Gasperini as his successor.

Ranieri returned to the Stadio Olimpico for a third spell last year and guided his team to fifth place as they qualified for the Europa League.

Meanwhile, Gasperini kicked off his tenure with a 1-0 win over Bologna on August 23, having finished third with La Dea in the last of his nine seasons at the helm.

Gasperini praised his players for a bold performance against the Rossoblu and believes the result will give them confidence for the games to come.

"We were bold today. It's not easy against Bologna with their dangerous forwards and the quality they have on the bench. We worked tirelessly when out of possession," the Italian said.

"I'm happy. The first game is never easy for anyone, not even the well-established teams. To have played with this spirit in this stadium against this team is a big injection of confidence for us."
