Berrettini out to claim European Open crown

Italian star Matteo Berrettini will be the man to beat at the 2020 European Open in Antwerp, Belgium. 
 
The 24-year-old player has a career-high ATP singles ranking of world number eight, achieved on 4 November 2019.
 
Berrettini is the highest-ranked player (nine in the world) at this year's European Open and he is the favourite to win the tournament.

The Rome-born player is a winner of three ATP 250 tournaments and semi-finalist at the US Open last year where he lost to Daniil Medvedev. 
 
Berrettini is also the first foreign top 10 player to participate in the European Open in Belgium.
 
An aggressive all-court player known for his strong serve and forehand, Berrettini will be eyeing his maiden European Open title.

His primary weapon is his forehand, known for its immense speed, spin and depth and he also possesses a strong serve, capable of reaching up to 230km/h. 
 
Berrettini focuses on setting up quick points and hitting winners with aggressive play and putting pressure on his opponent.

Dick Norman, the European Open tournament director, is pleased to welcome Berrettini to the competition. 
 
“With Matteo Berrettini we are bringing in a foreign top 10 player for the first time, something we are very proud of," Norman said.
 
"Fabio Fognini, a colorful figure in the tour, who won the ATP Masters 1000 in Monte Carlo last year, 
 
"we have been trying to get to Antwerp for years and we have now succeeded. ”
