2021/22 English Premier League

Matchday 25

Leicester City v West Ham United

King Power Stadium
Leicester, England
Sunday, 13 February 2022
Kick-off is at 17h30

West Ham will be targeting a fourth consecutive win over Leicester in the Premier League when they square off at the King Power Stadium on Sunday, February 13.

The Hammers ran out convincing 4-1 victors in the reverse fixture at the London Stadium on August 23, having secured a league double over the East Midlands outfit last season.

David Moyes' side suffered successive defeats to Leeds (3-2) and Manchester United (1-0) prior to the two-week break, although they responded with a 2-1 victory over Kidderminster in the FA Cup fourth round on February 5.

The east Londoners remain in the mix for a Champions League spot and Moyes admits it shows how much they have progressed in recent times, although he stressed there is still much to do.

"I'm glad that people are talking about West Ham being in the challenge for the top four," the Scot said in a press conference.

"That says something about where we've come to. Even last year, we were probably never talked about in those terms; we were probably talked about making a run for Europe.

"It shows there's been improvement and we're making some strides. We need to keep playing really well. We've got 15 league games to go and we have to keep playing well.

"The team have played really well for long periods of the season. We've had little bits of ups and downs throughout the season, but no more than anybody else. I'm looking forward to challenging again throughout the second half of the season."

The Foxes are still searching for their first victory in the New Year after being beaten 3-2 by Tottenham followed by a 1-1 draw at home to Brighton on January 23.

To make matters worse they crashed out of the FA Cup at the hands of Nottingham Forest, who beat the defending champions 4-1 on February 6 to advance to the fifth round.

Leicester manager Brendan Rodgers conceded that mistakes and a lack of desire led to their early cup exit - problems he has to remedy quickly.

"We made mistakes. The mistakes then affect the confidence of the team," Rodgers told LCFC TV. "To go behind to two quick goals, then you're chasing the game. For me, it's something I've seen for a little period now, that hunger.

"These players, some of them have done very well, but we lacked that hunger and physicality, which was never the case, so that's something that's a concern. Today, we weren't tough enough."
