Mercedes driver Lewis Hamilton will be eager to secure a record-extending victory when he takes part in the
Bahrain Grand Prix.
What to know about Hamilton
The British superstar Hamilton won a joint-record seven World Drivers' Championship titles (tied with Michael Schumacher).
Hamilton also holds the records for most number of wins (103), pole positions (104), and podium finishes (197), among other records.
The Stevenage-born icon finished third in the 2023 Formula One World Drivers' Championship standings.
Why Hamilton could win the 2024 Bahrain Grand Prix
Hamilton is the most successful driver in the history of the Bahrain Grand Prix having won the race record five times - in 2014, 2015, 2019, 2020, and 2021.
Despite failing to win a race during the 2023 Formula One World Drivers' Championship season, the four-time FIA Personality of the Year finished as runners-up three times.
Hamilton knows the Bahrain International Circuit very well and he will be hoping to use his impeccable experience to win this weekend's race.
What did he say?
“I know what this team [Mercedes] is capable of,” Hamilton said ahead of the 2024 Formula One World Drivers' Championship season.
“I am incredibly grateful for the work of every single person in this team. Every time you’re in the factory, you can see the sheer drive and determination of everyone.
“We are all mega-motivated for the year ahead and will be giving it everything we’ve got on the journey ahead.”
