The record for the most Bahrain Grand Prix titles is currently held by Ferrari driver Sebastian Vettel, who boasts four trophies.

Hamilton won the recent Turkish Grand Prix with Racing Point's Sergio Perez and Vettel finishing second and third respectively.

Having already been crowned 2020 Formula One world champion, Hamilton is sitting pretty at the top of the Drivers' Championship standings.

His teammate Valtteri Bottas is still placed second, while Red Bull driver Max Verstappen remains third on the table.

Hamilton reflected on his battle with Vettel at the Turkish Grand Prix where he was able to outsmart the German star.

“I was stuck behind Seb, and he is pulling away. On one side of it I was like happy for Seb cause he obviously had such a good start cause he was much further back," Hamilton said.

“So, good for him. Good to see him doing well, you know cause he has had such a difficult year. Then he pulled away, and I didn’t really understand why.

"But I was like, keep your head down, figure it out, find, change lines, figure out something, pickup, do anything you can to close that gap, and all of a sudden I started closing it."

Mercedes, who have been crowned 2020 Formula One world constructors champions, are placed at the top of the standings with an unassailable lead of 504 points.

They are followed by second-placed Red Bull and third-placed Racing Point, who have accumulated 240 points and 154 points with three races remaining.

2019 Bahrain Grand Prix results:
