Real Betis will be looking to extend their unbeaten run against Espanyol in
La Liga to seven matches when they square off at the RCDE Stadium on January 21.
Los Verdiblancos haven't lost to the Catalans since October 2017 when Gerard Moreno secured a 1-0 win for the hosts in Cornella.
Betis have won three of their last six meetings in the league, drawing the other three. The reverse fixture at Benito Villamarin finished 2-2 on September 19.
Manuel Pellegrini's side beat arch-rivals Sevilla 2-1 in the Copa del Rey at the weekend to advance to the quarter-finals.
The eventful cup-tie had to be abandoned when a thrown object from the home support struck Joan Jordan. Play resumed the following day behind closed doors and Betis went on to win the Seville derby.

Pellegrini was keen to move on from the incident which saw the Sevilla midfielder admitted to hospital with a concussion.
"For us, it's already finished. We qualified for the next stage of the Copa, that was our objective," the Chilean said in a press conference.
"I know that there was more significance because of the derby, but that has already happened... the theme is closed."

The Periquitos exited the Copa del Rey at the hands of Real Mallorca on January 15, with head coach Vicente Moreno admitting his team had an off day and believes they capable of performing much better.
"Today, obviously, was not our best game. A reflection of this was a moment in which nothing was happening and we conceded a goal," Moreno told the press.
"In the second half we wanted to generate more chances. We have achieved that at times, but we made many mistakes and we didn't perform well. We weren't the team that we want to be."
