Las Palmas will go head to head with Villarreal CF in a Spanish La Liga match at the Estadio de Gran Canaria on 13 January.
Current Form
Pio Pio suffered a 2-1 defeat to FC Barcelona away on 4 January as they extended their winless run to three matches in the Spanish top-flight.
Palmas are also winless in their last two home matches in the league having registered one defeat and one draw at the Estadio de Gran Canaria.
On the other hand, Villarreal succumbed to a 3-1 loss to Valencia CF at home on 2 January - a second defeat in their last three matches in La Liga.
The Yellow Submarine are winless in their last four away matches in the league having registered three defeats and one draw as the visitors.
Team News
Palmas duo Fabio González and Álvaro Lemos are out injured while Daley Sinkgraven is suspended and Saúl Coco is on national duty.
Meanwhile, Villarreal do not have any suspension concerns while Yeremy Pino is the only player on the club's injury list at the moment.
“Valencia outplayed us. They were better than us, especially in the first half hour. They had more precision and more discipline," Villarreal manager Marcelino García Toral said after his side's loss to Valencia.
"We knew the intensity with which they start their games, but despite that we couldn’t counter them. The victory is fair and it’s time to congratulate them. We need to improve a lot. We have conceded 38 goals in 19 games.
"It’s a very serious problem. In the last five games, we’ve conceded 14 goals. The opponents don’t need much to score against us. We have to work hard to improve this facet, which is so important in the game.”
Palmas secured a 2-1 win over Villarreal in their last meeting in La Liga with the game taking place at the Estadio de la Cerámica on 8 October 2023.
The win snapped Pio Pio's two-match winless run against the Yellow Submarine in the league having lost two games in a row.
