Jason Day will be eager to become the third golfer to win the Farmers Insurance Open three or more times after Phil Mickelson (three) and Tiger Woods (record seven).
What to know about Day
The Australian star won the Australian Boys' Amateur in 2004 and his amateur success extended to the USA, where he won the Boys 15–17 division at the 2004 Callaway World Junior Championship and was runner-up in the 2005 Porter Cup.
Day turned professional in 2006 and he has since been crowned champion on 19 occasions including 13 PGA Tour tournament wins, while also winning his one, and only golf major championship at the 2015 PGA Championship.
Latest News
The two-time Greg Norman Medal award winner was in action at the 2026 The American Express where he was tied for second at 23 under.
Day is currently placed 31st on the Official World Golf Rankings (OWGR) and he is a former world number one, having held that position in 2015.
Why Day is one of the favourites
The man nicknamed Jaydee will be oozing with confidence after finishing second at The American Express, just behind the best golfer in the world, Scottie Scheffler who secured a four-shot victory.
Jaydee tends to bring his A-game whenever he competes in the Farmers Insurance Open having won with a score of 279 (−9) in 2015 before clinching the trophy again in 2018 after defeating Alex Norén and Ryan Palmer in a sudden-death playoff.
Quotes
"That was a milestone that I was very interested in, like very excited to get to. It's always nice to be able to come to the desert and get things rolling in the right direction," said Day, who earned the 100th top 10 of his PGA Tour career at The American Express, achieving the feat in his 372nd PGA Tour start.
"It's just another little notch in the cap that you're very pleased about hitting. Something that I've always looked up to -- like you look at some of the careers of the other guys and you always look at how many wins, top 5s, top 10s, top 25s and then you don't want to compare yourself, but like you always seem to compare yourself.
"But obviously yeah, I mean, it's good to be able to finally get over that little hump, and now the rest is great. I'm looking forward to the rest of my career and seeing how many more top 10s I can obviously get."
