Liverpool will be looking to build momentum for the new season when they lock horns with Manchester City in the
Community Shield on Saturday, July 30.
The FA Cup holders finished the 2021/22 campaign on a disappointing note after being beaten 1-0 by Real Madrid in the UEFA Champions League final.
Jurgen Klopp's side were in the running for the quadruple going into the final day of the Premier League season following their EFL Cup triumph in February, but they lost out on the title to City by a single point.
The Reds will be confident of lifting the trophy for the first time since 2006 as they aim to extend their unbeaten run against the Citizens to four matches.
Neither team came out on top in their top-flight meetings last term, with both encounters finishing 2-2, although the Merseysiders did manage to knock out City in the FA Cup semi-finals.
Klopp intends to give his starting line-up a full game at the King Power Stadium, something which he hasn't done in the pre-season friendlies, with the majority of his players getting 45-minute run-outs under their belts.

"This pre-season we had to do slightly different and we wanted to do as well. All of them will play the first time 90 minutes on Saturday, all of them. But that's how we did the training," the German said.
"So the training sessions were intense to a specific point, that we could get fitter and fitter. The running sessions were extremely hard but we took care of them and now let's see how we can grow in this season.
"For City, it's not really different, they came back from America probably yesterday [Monday] or something like that. So it will be a tough one."
