No. 2 seed Aryna Sabalenka will look to take a step closer to winning her second Grand Slam of 2023 when she faces Madison Keys in the
quarter-finals at Wimbledon.
The Belarusian has enjoyed an impressive first half of the year after claiming her maiden Australian Open title in January before reaching the French Open semi-finals last month.
Sabalenka also made it to the US Open semi-finals in 2022, while she's contested a further four finals on the WTA Tour this year, winning the Adelaide International 1 and the Madrid Open.
The 25-year-old got the better of world No. 1 Iga Swiatek in the Spanish capital after losing to her in the Porsche Tennis Grand Prix final a few weeks earlier.
Sabalenka could have a rematch with Elena Rybakina in the semi-finals at the All England Lawn Tennis and Croquet Club, having defeated the Kazakhstan star in the Australian Open final.
Should she overcome Rybakina, the world No. 2 will have a clear path to her first Wimbledon title after both Swiatek and No. 4 seed Jessica Pegula lost their quarter-final ties on July 11.
Compatriot Victoria Azarenka was booed off the court after her match against Elina Svitolina on July 9, with the pair having not shaken hands in protest of Russia's war on Ukraine.
Sabalenka has backed Svitolina's call for a statement from tennis authorities to explain the absence of handshakes between Ukrainian players and their Russian and Belarusian rivals at Wimbledon.
"I thought it was a great tennis match," she said. "If people are going to be focusing only on handshakes or the crowd, quite drunk crowd, booing in the end, that's a shame.“As Elina said, I think someone has to come out on social media with the announcement that there is not going to be a handshake so players will not leave the court with so much hate,” she said.

"It would be good for the crowd to actually know what's going on. There is a reason behind no handshake."
