Davis Thompson will be keen to become the fourth golfer to win back-to-back John Deere Classic titles after David Frost, Deane Beman and Steve Stricker.
What to know about Thompson
The American golfer turned professional in 2021 and joined the Korn Ferry Tour, where he won the Rex Hospital Open after beating Vincent Norrman and Andrew Yun by one stroke.
Thompson secured his first PGA Tour win at the John Deere Classic on July 7, 2024, earning an invitation to play in the 2024 Open Championship and the 2025 Masters Tournament in the process.

The 2021 SEC Player of the Year was in action in the most recent PGA Tour event in 2025, which was the Rocket Classic in Michigan, USA, where he finished 34th.
Thompson is currently placed 62nd on the Official World Golf Ranking (OWGR), and his best overall ranking is 38th.
Why Thompson is among the favourites
The former University of Georgia student will be looking to replicate the form that saw him win the 2024 John Deere Classic when he tees off at the TPC Deere Run.
Thompson's 28-under-par for the John Deere Classic was the lowest 72-hole score in the tournament's history, surpassing Michael Kim's 27-under-par at the 2018 edition.

“I played great all week," said Thompson after winning the 2024 John Deere Classic.
"Kind of had a few hiccups on Friday but worked hard after the round and was able to kick it into gear on the weekend.
“Just feels great. A lot of hard work went into this, and thankfully, I was able to get the job done this weekend.”
