Portugal will be seeking their first win of
Euro 2025 when they take on Belgium at the Stade de Tourbillon on Friday, July 11.
The Iberians need to beat the Red Flames to stand a chance of advancing to the quarter-finals, although they also need a favour from Spain to pip Italy on goal difference.
Francisco Neto's side suffered a heavy 5-0 defeat at the hands of the reigning world champions first up on July 3 before holding the Blues to a 1-1 draw four days later.
Portugal trail the Italians by three points in third place and a minus-six goal difference means they must win big against Belgium and hope that La Roja thrash Andrea Soncin's side.
The Red Flames have already been eliminated from the tournament and they'll be playing for pride as they go in search of a fifth win against the Portuguese in eight meetings.
Elisabet Gunnarsdottir's side were narrowly beaten by Italy in their Group B opener on July 3 and they at least managed to get on the scoresheet in a 6-2 trouncing by Spain on July 7.
Neto expressed pride in his players for staying in the fight against the Blues as Diana Gomes scored an 89th-minute equaliser to keep their Euro 2025 hopes alive.
"I'm very proud. We got back to where we want to be. We got back to being Portugal. We had the ball, we pressed high, we recovered the ball in the opponent's half, we created goal-scoring opportunities," he said.
"We showed an incredible mentality and will to win. After going a goal down, having a goal ruled out by VAR, the only way we could get back into it was through willpower and belief.
"Now we have to recover and review the game. We are alive and it's still possible."
Gunnarsdottir revealed the result against Spain almost reduced her to tears after seeing her players battle valiantly before conceding four goals in the final 38 minutes.
"I'm really proud of my team because I know 100 per cent that they had the belief that I was looking for. But, to be honest, I walked into the locker room [after the match] and I really wanted to cry," she said.
"Emotionally it was difficult because I really believed in what we were doing and I loved seeing my players give everything they had. I really think we gave them a game for at least 60 minutes, a really good game."
