Matchday 2
Botswana vs Nigeria
Stade Larbi Zaouli, Casablanca

After being among some of the biggest winners in matchday one at the Women’s Africa Cup of Nations last week, Nigeria could tighten their grip on Group B when they take on Botswana in Casablanca later on Thursday.
Hoping to bag their
10th WAFCON title, the Super Falcons commenced their tournament with a strong 3-0 win against Tunisia at Stade Larbi Zaouli on Sunday.
All of Asisat Oshoala, Rinsola Babajide and Chinwendu Ihezuo were on target against Tunisia in what was a largely one sided affair and thus took Nigeria to the top of Group B in the process.
Speaking on their opening result, Super Falcons head coach Justine Madugu believes that a feel good factor has now been injected into the team.
“It always feels good each time you set out to go out for a game,” Madugu said.
“The ultimate goal for you is to win. And the fact that the team won, obviously, it is only natural that we are happy that the team won.”
Unfortunately for Botswana, The Mares are yet to taste victory at the 2025 AFCON after their narrow 1-0 defeat against Algeria last time out.
