Phil Mickelson will be desperate to win the
US Open for the first time in his illustrious career when he participates at Torrey Pines.
The American superstar has won three of the four golf major tournaments, namely; Masters, PGA Championship and Open Championship.
The US Open is the only major trophy missing on Mickelson's cabinet having won three Masters titles, two PGA Championships and one Open Championship.

Mickelson, who was inducted in the World Golf Hall of Fame in 2012, has finished second six times at the US Open in 1999, 2002, 2004, 2006, 2009 and 2013.
It is a US Open record for the most runner-up finishes and only behind his compatriot Jack Nicklaus' seven runner-up finishes at The Open Championship.
Mickelson won the 2021 PGA Championship last month after he shot a final-round 73 to capture the tournament, defeating Brooks Koepka and Louis Oosthuizen by two strokes.
The California-born golfer, who is a former number one in the Official World Golf Rankings, became the oldest major champion; at 50 after clinching the PGA Championship.

Mickelson is looking forward to competing at Torrey Pines for the 30th time as a professional.
"It's a unique opportunity because I've never won a US Open. It's in my backyard. I have a chance to prepare properly, and I wanted to put in the right work," Mickelson said.
“I don't spend a lot of time out here other than the Farmers. I really made an effort here, having the last week off, to spend time out here and really learn, re-learn the greens.
“So I spent a lot of hours out here on the greens last week to see if I can get that local knowledge again, and we'll see how it goes."
Willie Anderson, Bobby Jones, Ben Hogan and Jack Nicklaus are the most decorated players in the history of the US Open having won four titles each.
