2022/23 UEFA Nations League

League A - Group 4
Matchday 4

Netherlands v Wales

Stadion Feijenoord
Rotterdam, Netherlands
Tuesday, 14 June 2022
Kick-off is at 19h45

The Netherlands will look to maintain their unbeaten start in the UEFA Nations League when they welcome Wales to De Kuip on Tuesday, June 14.

Oranje lead Group 4 by three points ahead of Belgium and Poland, although their 100 per cent record came to an end with a 2-2 draw against the Eagles on Saturday.

Louis van Gaal's side kicked off their campaign with back-to-back victories over the Red Devils (4-1) and the Dragons (2-1), but they had to come from behind to rescue a point against the Poles last time out.

Frenkie de Jong felt the Dutch had more than enough chances to win at the weekend, with Memphis Depay hitting the post from the penalty spot late on.

"I think at the end it's a bit disappointing because at home you always want to win and with the opportunities at the end it's a bit of a disappointing result," De Jong said.

"But I think the spirit in the team and the way we fought to come back was really positive... it was good that we scored our first goal right after their second.

"This gave us energy and it gave the crowd energy and then we scored quite fast the equaliser. We still had some time left to score the winner and I think we had opportunities so in the second half it was a good game from us."

The Welsh managed to claim their first point in the competition after holding Belgium to a 1-1 draw in Cardiff on Saturday.

Rob Page's team remain bottom of their group, having opened proceedings with successive 2-1 defeats to Poland and the Netherlands.

Page hailed the fighting spirit of his players after Brennan Johnson equalised four minutes from time to cancel out Youri Tielemans' 51st-minute opener for the Belgians.

"This shows how far we've come as a group. We don't fear anybody. That's a benchmark, another statement. When we go a goal behind, we don't give up and we'll keep going," he said.

Head-to-Head record:

Matches - 9
Netherlands - 9
Wales - 0
