Liberia will go head to head with Morocco in a 2023
Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifier at the Stade Mohamed V on June 13.
The Lone Stars thrashed the Central African Republic (CAR) 3-1 at home in their last competitive match which was the 2022 FIFA World Cup qualifier on 16 November 2021.
The win ended Liberia's three-match winless in competitive matches having recorded three consecutive defeats against Nigeria and Cape Verde (twice).
However, the Lone Stars are undefeated in their 14 matches at home in the AFCON qualifiers having registered six draws and eight wins as the hosts.
“My group is very challenging with Morocco and South Africa. Liberia will be classed as underdogs, but we will do our best," Liberia coach Peter Butler told FARPost.
“Morocco and South Africa are good teams, Liberia are underdogs, but we might upset one or two people.
“We have not been able to play at home; it’s challenging. It’s quite tough, but we will do our best."
Meanwhile, Morocco secured a 2-1 win over South Africa at home in their last competitive game which was the 2023 AFCON qualifier on June 9.
The Atlas Lions are enjoying a three-match unbeaten run in competitive games having registered two consecutive wins and one draw which came against DR Congo.
The 1976 African champions are also unbeaten in their last five matches on the road in the AFCON qualifiers having registered three draws and two wins as the visitors.
The last meeting between Liberia and Morocco was on 29 July 1987.
The Lone Stars emerged as 2-1 winners over the Atlas Lions in an international friendly match which was played in Monrovia, Liberia.
