World No.5 Rafael Nadal will be looking to reach the French Open final for the 14th time in his career when he faces Alexander Zverev in the semi-finals on Friday, June 3.

The Spaniard holds the record for most men's singles titles contested and won (both 13) at Roland Garros, where he has achieved the special feat of lifting the trophy in three separate decades.

Nadal has dropped just three sets en route to the last four and knocked out defending champion Novak Djokovic in the previous round with a 6-2, 4-6, 6-2, 7-6 win.

The 35-year-old has battled Zverev on nine occasions, winning six times. He halted a three-match losing streak against the German with a 6-3, 6-4 victory in the quarter-finals of the ATP Masters 1000 Rome last year.

Nadal, who won the Australian Open at the start of this year, has been struggling with a chronic foot injury and indicated this could be his last appearance on the Paris clay.

"I don't know what can happen. As I said before, I'm gonna be playing this tournament because we are doing the things to be ready to play this tournament, but I don't know what's gonna happen after here," he said.

"I have what I have there in the foot, so if we are not able to find an improvement or a small solution for that, then it's becoming super difficult for me.

"So that's it. I am just enjoying every day that I have the chance to be here, and without thinking much about what can happen in the future."
